Inauguration 2005: Queer Fist Call to Action

Mainstream gay Americans are blind. Homophobia is buried in state legislation. Anti-Queer corporations are sponsoring pride marches. Trans people are systematically denied equal healthcare, regardless of their marital status. Monogamy has become the only acceptable relationship. Marriage seems to be the sole focus of any LGBT rights campaign. The Queers are pissed off and ready to be heard.

No matter who "won" the election we would still be here in need of visibility. The radical queer community has been brushed aside under an ugly rainbow flag provided so generously by Nike. On January 20th join radical queers across the country in a day of direct action.

Queerfist NYC will be hosting a brief meeting at the convergence space at 10:00am the morning of the inauguration. Come to hear about the various opportunities for queer visibility. We have options for anyone willing to lend a voice or a fist at any risk level.

This action is being organized by Queerfist NYC, but is by no means exclusive to those affiliated with Queerfist. Anyone who is tired of being told they're either a butch or a femme, a top or a bottom, a gay, lesbian, bisexual, or an "other" is a radical queer.

If you're sick of seeing gender rules infiltrate every aspect of public life come join us. If you're tired of watching your sexuality be commodified and sold come join us. Let's show vanilla America how queer this country really is: one strap-on blowjob at a time.
