Inauguration 2005: Mass Outreach Day
Monday, January 17th

Meet at 11:00 am at the Counter Inaugural Convergence Space
39 New York Ave NE (at 1st Street)
*near the New York Ave Metro stop (red line)

We will leave no later than 12 noon, to scatter our selves through out the city, on metros, busses, and streets to talk to people (and hear what they have to say) about the counter inaugural events and the larger picture.

We have lots of leaflets, both event/informational about the 20th, as well as some literature, but please bring your own as well!!! This will be the final day of a two month effort of weekly leafleting on the metros, in hopes to re-empower the dc public.

Many of us have been organizing for the inauguration, and feel at times like it will be a huge and vibrant success. Yet at other times it seems like we are rushing about silently in our activist bubble, outside of which not even murmurs of hope and resistance exist.

This is an important form of action both for the immediate results of the counter inaugural mobilization, but also for a long term movement. We can build connections and networks in our communities and neighborhoods, share our ideas and learn from others, and work to break down the barriers in our interactions that keep us divided.

* Jan 17th is Martin Luther king Jr. day so people should be out and about!

For the Jan. 17 Outreach Day, here's how you can help.

1. Come and participate! Talk to folks with us and hand out info! Paste posters around town.

2. Come and bring leaflets to distribute! Show up with a stack and offer them up!

3. Get in touch with us if you have lots of leaflets! We are making copies of ours but we cannot make copies of lots of leaflets for everyone. If you've got a leaflet, duplicate it and get it to us.

4. Forward this! Spread the word!

5. Outreach every day in between! Don't wait til January 17th or stop afterwards! Talk to folks on the metro, the bus, your neighbors, etc. Rely on yourself!
